Head of the Occoquan 2016 - Race Preview
As quickly as it started, our Fall Racing season is almost over. For our last regatta, we travel to Fairfax Station, Va for one final race on the Occoquan reservoir. This week has been a quick turnaround for Penn State crew after last weekends’ trip to Philadelphia. Unfortunately the fog forced the Varsity squads indoors all week. As much as the rowers gripe about it, I think the weather is always prefect inside the White Building. The competition we will face this weekend should give us an idea of where we are as a competitive club team. There will be some fast local teams that will look to test our skills: George Mason, VCU, Virginia Tech, and University of Richmond.

Varsity Women:
After seeing the boats move well last week, lineups stayed as “open” and “lightweight” boats. This week we see the return of Junior, Izzy Gordon, from the injured list. She will move into the engine room of our V8 and look to provide a boost in speed over course.

Varsity Men:
A few Varsity men return this week from the injured list and look to improve speed in the JV8. The V8 sees a new face this week in Sophomore Dor Tillinger sitting bow seat. A bit of shuffling in the V4s looks to move both into(near) the top 10 this weekend.

Novice Women & Novice Men:
After some great results last weekend, the novice squads look to improve their position once again. The Novice Women will look to stay on top of the club teams and upset a few of the Varsity programs attending.
With the return of Alex Talbot and Joe Brauckmann this week, the Novice Mens 8 is looking to fight for a top spot.
We expect both Novice squads to place near the top in both the 8s and 4s events. They have proven their speed at previous regattas while up against some top tier Varsity programs.
